WidgetBucks rolles out new ad widget style

This morning I received an email from WidgetBucks, which says:

We wanted to make you aware two things as we head into the Holiday season. First the addition of additional widgets and secondly to ask for your vote on the OWA awards.

WidgetBucks has rolled out a new ad widget style, giving publishers two display options for each of the eight sizes offered. The new ads are noted with a “B” (for B Series) in the pull-down menu of the “Customize Your Widget” page, where publishers can also see a preview before selecting with option to choose. One “C Series” widget, offered in the 300×250 medium rectangle size and 660×330 larger size, includes a search box.

One modification not previously highlighted on this blog is the ability to adjust the product rotation interval, giving publishers the ability to modify the pace by which products are displayed in their widgets. The default rotation is 3 seconds, but can be set anywhere from 1 to 10 seconds per item.

When it comes to popular categories of WidgetBucks widgets, the top five are MP3 Players, Laptops, Game Consoles, Flat Panel Televisions and Cell Phones, respectively. And when it comes to ad sizes, here are the top four (in order by total units used): 160×600 wide skyscraper, 728×90 leaderboard, 300×250 medium rectangle, and 468×60 full banner.

From this email, we can see that WidgetBucks has always been working to improve their network and widgets. As a publisher, I very glad to see these new ad widget style, which could help get more hits and conversion. I plan to put some widgets on this blog.

Unfortunate to some my friends in China, their accounts had been suspended since WidgetBucks announced they would reject non-English blogs. Some of them are lucky enough to receive the payments before their accounts suspended.

Does anyone actually make any money from widget bucks? I mean an amount worth bragging about? Seems like one of those programs where you spend a bunch of time putting them into place, and barely make any money from it.

Almost like Kontera, Adbrite, and Chitika. Just have not met anyone who makes enough money off of these to make me want to jump in.
