AdSense for FeedBurner feeds is coming soon

The official FeedBurner weblog announces that they will be rolling out Adsense for feed to a small group of publishers, in anticipation of a full launch to all FeedBurner and AdSense publishers “coming soon”. This operation will start next week, and you see “Ads by Google” on an ad in a feed somewhere.

Publishers already in the FeedBurner Ad Network will continue to see premium CPM ads directly sold onto their content, but with the added bonus of contextually targeted ads that will fill up the remainder of their inventory. So you can earn money from both FeedBurner Ad Network and Adsense. If you are not placing ads in your feeds and meets the requirements to join the AdSense program, you can use Adsense for feeds. You will be able to manage your feed ad units directly from AdSense Setup tab, and track performance right on the AdSense Report tab.

This is really good news for bloggers who have a large amount of subscribers. The more subscribers you have, the more money you may earn. Adsense is a steady stream of money maker for your blog. It is easy to operate. You customize the ads, place ads on blog, and then Adsense do the rest and show you money. But money is based on traffic, and traffic is based on content. So the most important thing you should do is writing unique fresh content. Content is king. This will never be out of time.

WordPress2.6 Supports Google Gears

From the WordPress ticket #6965, we can see that WordPress2.6 will get Google Gear support. The original description is:

First run. Support for Google Gears managed offline storage. The patch adds all static files used in the admin interface to a single offline storage. That speeds up page loading a lot, as it serves virtually all requests for static files from the computer’s HD instead of the network. So instead of 50-60 requests to the server on some pages, there are only 2-3.

What is Google Gears?
Google Gears is an open source browser extension that lets developers create web applications that can run offline. Gears provides three key features:

  • A local server, to cache and serve application resources (HTML, JavaScript, images, etc.) without needing to contact a server
  • A database, to store and access data from within the browser
  • A worker thread pool, to make web applications more responsive by performing expensive operations in the background

Generally speaking, Goolge Gears does this by storing information on your machine allowing you to read, edit and update “data” from the internet without actually being connected. And then, the next time you connect to the internet it synchronizes with the website, uploading any changes you’ve made, and downloading any changes/updates that have been made on the site.

Google Gears make WordPress faster
Since you installed Google Gears Plugin for your browser, and enabled “Google Gear”, your browser would download all the information it needs so that WordPress doesn’t need to connect to the internet for certain information. Your blog runs “offline”. No request to the server, less loading time.

Make your blog compatible with Google Gears
WP-Offline is a WordPress plugin that lets your readers cache your entire blog for offline reading using Google Gears. The plugin was released June, 2007. You can find more introduction from the original page.
